The actions of the tapers that I have developed along these years, are highly responsive (high natural frequency/fast action/Middle Fast Action) and able to satisfied also the more sofisticated anglers. They have been thought as an answer for those fishermen who wants high performances rods, without loosing the real bamboo soul.
The introduction version comes usually with high quality components but without any customization. The components used are cork handle, downlocking reel seat (aluminum or nickel silver hardware with wood insert), nickel silver snake guides and a standard metal stripping guide. Double tip provided on demand.
The Customized version come on the specifics required by the client like for istance, handmade wooden handle (or birch bark or cork with wood/birch bark inserts) handmade reel seat (selection of different woods) with silversmith slide bands, Agatha stripping guide and snake guides Bamboo ferrules are also provided. The basic taper selection will cover a lenghts range between 6′ and 9′, in 2 or 3 pieces with 2 tips (bamboo ferruled or nickel silver ferruled); the range of line weights will be from #2 to #5. I’ll make them on commission so any custom request will be gladly taken in consideration. The idea is to make bamboo blanks especially for professional rodmakers. The whole building process is performed used only manual tools.
The material is not processed with milling machines which putting it under stress and causing possible damage to the material.
Each bamboo culm is unique and it requires specific choices which a machine is not able to perform.

In 2022, with the help of some friends, we have founded the Association “Kids On The Fly – The Italian Chapter”.
KIDS ON THE FLY – The Italian Chapter is a non-profit Recreational Association. The Association’s activities are aimed at spreading, among the new generations, the Technique and Culture of Fly Fishing. We welcome children from 8 to 16 years of age to whom, in addition to the passion for fishing, we would like to convey respect for the environment as a whole and the importance of its protection and conservation.
To support this nice initiative Massimo Tirocchi Handcrafted Split Cane Rods, will allocate 10% of the sales coming from the fly rods to the Association Kids On The Fly – The Italian Chapter.
